Pioneer are thrilled to have purchased this strong individual by the highly acclaimed National Hunt Sire Walk In The Park out of the Multiple winning mare Scooping who herself is a half sister to Grade 1 winner Won in the Dark. This filly will be trained by Gordon Elliott and his team at Cullentra House Stables.
Our objective with the assistance of Gordon Elliott & Aidan ‘Mouse’ O’Ryan was to purchase a well bred filly with nice movement who was capable of coming to hand early and can also compete in the valuable auction race series and this filly qualifies for all of the above. This powerful filly fits the profile to a tee being very well bred and also a nice mover.
The fillies sire Walk In The Park is very highly regarded in the industry and is already being earmarked as a future great in the National hunt sire ranks and has been positioned as the flagship National Hunt sire in the Coolmore ranks. He has already produced superstars such as Douvan & Min from a limited number of mares before being transferred from France to Ireland. 2021 saw his first crop of Irish bred NH horses run as 4yos with winners flooding in and the signs are that many more will come on the track and in the point to points in the near future.
The dam of our filly Scooping was a multiple winner on the flat and also over hurdles. She is very well related being a half sister to the Sabrina Harty trained Grade 1 winner and performer Won In The Dark (3/4 relation to our filly) who amassed over €275,000 prize money during his career. It is a page full of quality and winners with the 3rd dam Melodist being a dual Oaks winner herself and also producer of Grade 2 winning hurdler Song Of  The Sword amongst others. The added bonus to owners in this filly is that at the end of her career she will have a resale value as a broodmare due to just how beautifully bred she is.
This filly is very strong in her appearance and looks a racey individual which will give her every chance of making the track sooner rather than later. She was already broken in as a yearling and riding away which also gives her a valueable head start on other horses her age. She is already in training with Gordon and the early signs are very exciting and everything remains on course for her to be on track early as a four year old.
Gordon “She spent the first month taking it easy and we got her used to our way of doing things and into a nice routine. Now she’s settled in she’s been cantering away and we have started to up her workload. She is a very racey looking filly and what I like about her is she’s a lot of strength in her back end and a real want to please. The sire is doing the business on the track and I wouldn’t mind a few more of them in the yard!”
