DOYEN x KENZIE 2020 GELDING

Pioneer Racing are thrilled to have secured this gorgeous Doyen Gelding who is none other than the full brother to Black type winner and extremely talented Rapid Escape. He is to be trained by Gordon Elliott, the same person who trained Rapid Escape and needless to say Gordon was very keen for us to secure this striking 3yo.

Rapid Escape was a horse that was very highly regarded by Gordon and was purchased by Gigginstown for £240k, Gordon viewed him as a Grade 1 horse and one of his top future prospects which was evident when he won multiple races including the Future Champions Bumper at Navan which is a race Gordon targets with his top young horses every year and has won with the likes of Samcro, Envoi Allen, Death Duty, Sir Gerhard and American Mike. It is fair to say the race has a high class role of honour. Rapid Escape also famously out performed Samcro in his final piece of work at Punchestown before Samcro went onto win that years G1 Ballymore Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival even though Rapid Escape was a full year younger. Due to the exceptionally high level of ability he had and showed before suffering a very unfortunate mishap we are very excited to have this fellow among the Pioneer ranks and we certainly have big aspirations for this lad in the future.

Our geldings sire Doyen was a top level performer including Group 1 wins in his career and has proven to be a outstanding National Hunt sire which includes progeny such as Grade 1 winner Battleoverdoyen who is also a member of the Pioneer ranks, Beacon Edge and Banbridge with the list going on. Gordon has a great record when training his progeny and would be a huge fan of the sire.

The dam of our gelding Kenzie has a beautiful jumping pedigree being by the legendary National Hunt multiple Champion sire Presenting who among being a fantastic National Hunt sire with his own progeny siring the likes of Denman and War Of Attrition has also proven to be a highly desirable broodmare sire where he features for the likes of Might Bite, Conflated, Paisley Park and Presenting Percy among others. Kenzie herself is a half sister to the Nicky Henderson Black type performer Chauvinist and has Gold Cup winner Mr Mulligan in her pedigree also, Kenzie has also proven she is capable of producing talented offspring as well as Rapid Escape you also have Nicolas Chauvin who was a great horse in his own right and trained by Nicky Henderson whilst one of Kenzie’s daughters would go on to become the dam of Black type performer Captain Tom Cat. It certainly is a very talented family.

What excites us even further about our Geldings pedigree is that Doyen x Presenting cross is extremely successful on the racetrack and has resulted in the likes of Grade 1 winners Banbridge, Beacon Edge and recent Punchestown Festival winner Kilbeg King. He is a gorgeous moving individual and also has plenty of scope to him. We view him as a top level future prospect for the track and for the black and mauve of Pioneer Racing.
