General Maximus 1

MAXIOS X ENTERPRISING 2017 (G)

Pioneer Racing are delighted to have secured General Maximus a racey and athletic 5yo Gelding by Maxios out of the Dansili mare Enterprising who herself is a full sister to the two Black type winners Runnymede & Stipulate. General Maximus has been going through a regime where he has been brought on with options of running in a Irish point-to-point or in a Bumper during the Winter season. However due to the insurance crisis that the Irish P2P scene is facing the horse has come onto the market early.

General Maximus was brought to the attention of Gordon, Mouse & ourselves when winning a schooling hurdle race and being by a sire that is rated very highly and one which Cullentra House Stables have had good success with. Before we finalised the purchase of General Maximus we were keen to allow Gordon’s team to have a first hand assessment of the horse with a racecourse gallop along with some of Gordon’s horses which he carried out with flying colours on testing ground. The jockey feedback was he’s a horse that appreciates testing ground and that he will run well in a Irish Bumper with suitable conditions. Gordon has told us he expects this horse to keep improving as he continues to mature into his frame. He has been schooled very well and came 2nd in his first run over hurdles under rules at Navan.

The sire of General Maximus is the multiple Group 1 winner Maxios who was purchased by Coolmore in late 2019 due to the exceptional record that sons of Monsun are having with jumps progeny and due to his exceptional record with his jumps progeny from limited crops which include Cheltenham winners Quxilios, Aramax and promising young horses such as The Mediator. The dam of General Maximus Enterprising is very well related being a full sister to blacktype winners Runnymede & Stipulate. She has already shown she can produce a jumper with Parismarseille winning over jumps in France. What is also interesting is General Maximus breeding (Maxios out of a Dansili mare) is showing to be successful cross producing 3 winners from 3 runners so far with 2 of those progeny rated in the 130s over jumps.

Gordon Elliott – ‘He is a horse who is by a sire we have had great success with. I have liked the look of him since he has arrived and he has settled in well. He’s come from a great home who are renowned for prepping younger horses and getting them to jump well. He ran very well on hurdles debut and we will have a lot of fun with him and he will win his races, We could go back for a bumper and at the money he is very well brought’.
