We are thrilled to have been able to secure the very exciting flat performer and recent Fairyhouse winner The Mpex Kid. What makes his eased down hands and heels win even more impressive was the fact it came off the back of a 336 day break, which as stated by Ciaran Murphy assistant trainer to Dot Love in a pre race interview in which he was very bullish about the horses chances on the day as it have given The Mpex Kid time to strengthen and fill out into his frame. Ciaran also said in the interview he felt the horse had ran several times too many as a 3yo when he was still a bit weak due to the horse still growing and developing. These factors have left the horse unexposed to the handicapper and Ciaran is confident he can go on to strike again in the very near future.

The horse is by multiple Group 1 winner Tamayuz who comes from the family of the legendary Urban Sea (dam of Galileo & Sea the Stars). In turn he has had progeny who have won at Group 1 level which include Mustashry, G Force, Precieuse and Blond Me. What is also noticeable is that his progeny excel with age with Lockinge winner Mustashry and Gallic Chieftain being examples. The dam herself is a half sister to listed winner Elrafa Ah who in turn was the dam of champion 2 year old and stallion Mujahid. She has already produced 5 winners including 13 time winner Star Links who was rated 93 at his peak.

Ciaran has said the horse has really strengthened over the past year which will translate onto the track and as previously mentioned he feels he is still very unexposed. Another factor has been an upgrade on the facilities at home in late 2019. The only reason the horse was for sale was that the previous owners are pin hookers who buy to sell. Normally a horse of this quality would be out of our range due to the high demand by not only domestic and overseas buyers to continue on the flat but also agents looking for proven horses to go jumping with and with his rating and his stature he fits the bill for both, however with the current global situation owing to the Covid-19 Virus we have taken advantage of the strong buyers market at the moment to secure this horse at what we feel is half his normal value and the plan is to keep the horse in training with those who know him best and who have recommended him so highly as we are not in favour of splitting up a winning combination.

Ciaran Murphy and Dot Love are people who we know very well and are held in very high regard within the racing community, they currently pre train all our horses before going onto other trainers and also are the people we trust to break in our young horses starting out on their racing careers, it is for this reason and having dealt with Ciaran and Dot for nearly 10 years that we not only trust in their judgement but have a lot of faith in their abilities to get the very best out of any horse in their care, which has been showcased continuously over the years by the work they have done for ourselves, Gigginstown and Paul and Clare Rooney. Since racing has recommenced their horses have been in the money a staggering 55% of the time with plenty waiting in the wings.As mentioned previously Ciaran thinks the horse is still on a very workable mark and therefore has decided to protect this mark and aim him at a race which he has had mapped out for him for quite some time at The Galway Racing Festival, he thinks the race he has in mind will be perfect for him given the stiff finish which is where the horse comes into his own and is at his best. This is a horse we are very very excited to have secured and have big hopes for in the future. We expect him to sell out quickly due to his exciting profile and are down to our few shares.
