Wings of Destiny

2014 (G) SHIROCCO X FORCE IN THE WINGS

Pioneer Horse Racing are delighted to welcome the very promising Wings of Destiny to our current team of horses in training with Gordon Elliott. Wings of Destiny is an imposing individual standing at over 16 hands 2, he is a gelding by current sire sensation Shirocco, who himself is by none other than National Hunts very own sire of sires Monsun. Shirocco’s progeny have really came into their own this season with a lot of promising individuals showcasing their talents in both the p2p’s sector and under rules with 3 exciting examples just in the month of January being ‘Your Darling’ – described by Henrietta Knight as the nicest horse she has brought since Best Mate, ‘Lieutentant Rocco’ and ‘Good Time Jonny’. What is also exciting is that Wings of Destiny is bred on the same lines as one of Shirocco’s best performers to date the black type performer ‘Rock The Kasbah’ (Rated 156 at his peak). More information can be found on Shirocco’s winners on the following link: http://www.rathbarrystud.com/cms/stallions/shirocco/winners/

Wings Of Destiny placed third on debut in an ultra competitive bumper in which he was beaten by less than 3 lengths giving best to a horse called ‘Bentham’ who went on to win a further 2 bumpers this season making it 3 in all and the last of which was under a double weight penalty at the Listowel festival. The horse who finished second on that occasion at Bellewstown ‘Rocket Lad’ had won a bumper on his previous start and was beaten less than 2 lengths from Gordon’s now Listed winning hurdler ‘Ard Abhainn’ at the Punchestown Festival on his racecourse debut the start before that which is an exciting piece of form especially as Rocket Lad then went on to win his second bumper at the Galway Racing Festival on his next start and since then has won over hurdles and is now rated 145 over timber (runs tomorrow at Cheltenham in a grade 2 novice hurdle).
On Wings Of Destiny’s second start he was sent off a hot odds on favourite in a bumper at Killarney festival and Gordon said in hindsight the 12 day turn around was much too soon after his debut effort for such a big raw young horse and decided to give him a break to help him fill out into his frame.
He has since made his return to the racecourse after the break in which he finished 5th behind the very highly regarded Willie Mullins trained horse ‘Energumene’ on what was merely an educational run to see how he handled winter ground conditions, he was ridden by a young 7lb claimer on that occasion and Gordon has said Wings Of Destiny will improve massively both physically & mentally for the outing. He’s carried out plenty of schooling at Gordon’s as is the case with all Gordon’s bumper horses and Gordon is confident this horse has the ability to win a bumper before going over obstacles where he feels you will see him at his best.

Wings of Destiny is due to run again in a bumper and we believe he offers an exceptional opportunity to get involved in a horse who will win plenty of races going forward and comes recommended by Gordon with shares available at a very reasonable price. Below is a video highlighting how fluid a mover he is.
